After breakfast, you’ll start your cycling journey towards Logatec. The route takes you through the picturesque Ljubljana Marshes, a nature reserve with unique wetlands and scenic countryside. This is a great introduction to Slovenia’s diverse landscapes, offering a mix of flat and gently rolling terrain.
Today’s ride takes you through peaceful forests and across the scenic plateau of Zadlog before descending into the Vipava Valley. As you leave the Karst region behind, the landscape becomes more Mediterranean, with gentle hills and a milder climate. Ajdovščina, a historic town known for its Roman heritage and wine culture, welcomes you at the end of the day’s ride.
After breakfast, you’ll continue cycling towards Goriška Brda, Slovenia’s most famous wine-growing region. The route takes you through the lower Vipava Valley and past small, charming villages before reaching the rolling hills of Brda. This area is known for its excellent wines, orchards, and picturesque hilltop settlements. Take the evening to enjoy breathtaking views and a taste of the region’s rich culinary traditions.
Leaving the vineyards behind, today’s ride takes you into the Karst region, a unique limestone landscape characterized by underground caves and traditional stone-built villages. The route features some challenging climbs but rewards you with spectacular views and the fascinating natural beauty of the Karst. Sežana, a town near the Italian border, is your final stop for the day, offering a blend of Slovenian and Mediterranean influences.
Your final cycling day takes you from the Karst plateau towards the Adriatic coast. The route first leads through a mix of rolling terrain and forested areas before gradually descending towards the sea. As you approach Piran, you’ll be greeted by stunning coastal views and a refreshing change in climate. With its amazing architecture and charming old town, Piran is the perfect place to celebrate the end of your journey. Enjoy the sunset over the Adriatic and indulge in delicious local seafood.
