- Cycling through Slovenia’s quiet Polhov Gradec hills
- Enjoying nearly car-free forest gravel roads
- Exploring hidden valleys and peaceful countryside
Welcome to Slovenia! Once you arrive in Ljubljana, you’ll have time to settle in, explore the city, or relax by the Ljubljanica River. The old town is car-free and full of cafes, ideal for an easy start. Airport transfers can be arranged on request.
Leaving Ljubljana, the route quickly leaves behind the city streets and enters a landscape of forested hills and narrow local roads. The ride starts with gentle terrain, but soon transitions into steady climbs through quiet countryside.
As you gain elevation, views open up across central Slovenia. The road winds through scattered farms and remote woodland areas with almost no traffic.
You finish the day with a long descent into a peaceful valley town, surrounded by green ridges. A rewarding mix of climbing and calm rural scenery.
Today starts with a gradual climb through forested slopes that feel far from the modern world. The route takes you deeper into the hills, with a steady rhythm and occasional open views.
After reaching the high ground, you begin to notice changes in the landscape- drier, rockier terrain, fewer trees, and a touch of the Mediterranean. A descent brings you down to the edge of the Karst region, where the villages look and feel different from where you started.
You begin the ride climbing back into wooded hills, riding on calm roads that pass through pine forests and quiet meadows. The pace is steady, with a good balance of climbing and gentle rolling terrain.
The middle section of the day passes through rural Slovenia- sleepy villages, patches of farmland, and long forest stretches. The roads remain quiet, with very little traffic throughout the day.
A relaxed descent leads you to your overnight stop, set in a green valley surrounded by forest.
This is the most remote stage of the trip. You head south into the deep forest, following narrow roads and gravel tracks that climb steadily beneath Mount Snežnik.
The surroundings are quiet and wild – few signs of people, mostly trees, wildlife, and mountain air. It’s a slow and steady ride, surrounded by nature the entire way.
After the high point, the descent takes you into a wide, peaceful valley where you’ll stay the night. No rush, just a deep sense of calm.
The final day begins gently as you ride across a wide plateau dotted with meadows and farms. The first part rolls easily, offering open views and a quiet rhythm.
Midway through the stage, the route begins the climb toward Mount Krim, a forested peak south of Ljubljana. The ascent is steady and surrounded by dense pine and beech forest. From the top, you’ll get wide views across central Slovenia before a long descent begins.
You return to Ljubljana through the backroads, arriving from the south via forest trails and river valleys, a quiet and satisfying finish to the trip.
On your final day, enjoy a relaxed breakfast at the hotel before checking out. If required, we can arrange a transfer to Ljubljana Airport or your next destination. Depart with unforgettable memories of your cycling holiday in Slovenia, from alpine hikes and scenic bike routes to charming villages and breathtaking landscapes.
