- Riding through the Serra de Montejunto Protected Landscape with panoramic viewpoints
- Enjoying moderate daily rides combining coast, countryside, and cultural stops
Welcome to Lisbon, Portugal’s capital and cultural heart. After checking into your hotel, you can explore the city at your own pace, wander through the old quarters of Alfama or Bairro Alto, ride a famous yellow tram, or relax by the Tagus River. Transfers from nearby airports can be arranged.
Your first ride takes you out of Lisbon and towards the Atlantic coast. The route combines urban departure with quieter backroads, leading you through rolling hills and farmland before reaching the lively fishing and surfing town of Ericeira. Known for its coastal cliffs and seafood restaurants, it’s the perfect place to relax after your first day on the bike.
Today you follow the Atlantic coastline northwards, cycling through seaside villages and enjoying views of long sandy beaches. The ride is varied, with a mix of small climbs and flat sections, offering plenty of opportunities to stop and enjoy the ocean views. By afternoon, you arrive in Peniche, a town built on a rocky peninsula famous for its fishing traditions and fortress.
Leaving the Atlantic coast, today’s ride takes you inland towards the Serra de Montejunto Protected Landscape, the highest natural viewpoint of the Estremadura region at 660 m. This limestone massif stretches for 15 km and is rich in caves, fossils, and unique ecosystems. As you climb into the hills, you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views over central Portugal. The area is also home to rare plant species and a protected bat colony, making it an important natural reserve. After crossing this scenic range, you continue towards Aveiras de Cima, a quiet countryside town where you’ll spend the night.
Today’s stage is more relaxed, as you descend from the hills into the fertile plains of the Tagus River valley. The landscape opens up into farmland and wetlands, making the ride easier and flatter. Your destination is Samora Correia, a town known for its agricultural traditions and peaceful surroundings.
The final cycling stage leads you back towards Lisbon, with a mix of quiet rural roads and flatter sections as you approach the capital. It’s a gentle conclusion to the tour, giving you time to enjoy the last kilometers before returning to the city. By afternoon, you arrive back in Lisbon for your final night.
After breakfast, your Portugal cycling holiday comes to an end. Transfers to Lisbon Airport or nearby transport hubs can be arranged. Leave with memories of coastal roads, inland climbs, and the warm hospitality of Portugal.
